New PATS Editor Unveils Plans for Journal Coverage and Relaunch

The ATS is relaunching the Proceedings of the American Thoracic Society as a bi-monthly in 2013 with new editor-in-chief John Hansen-Flaschen, MD, who shares his vision in a videocast. The new PATS will target clinicians with current and concise reviews, original research, commentaries, and editorials.

Dr. Hansen-Flaschen is professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and chief of the Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Division. He is also the medical director of the Penn Lung Center.

The PATS March 15 issue includes two official ATS documents on climate change and human health, the integrated care of COPD patients, a farewell editorial from former editor Dr. Alan Leff, and a podcast in which Dr. Hansen-Flaschen interviews Drs. William Rom, workshop writing committee co-chair, and John Balbus, senior advisor for public health at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
