Updates to ATS Journals in 2017

2017 generated a number of new initiatives across the ATS Journals.

AJRCCM Year in Review

The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine celebrated its centenary with a special issue and an image gallery showcasing some of the earliest illustrations found in the journal. New features from this year include Blue Briefing, a video series highlighting papers of note, and the 50 Years of Research in ARDS collection, an exploration of the past, present, and future in care for ARDS. More episodes of Blue Briefing to come!

AJRCMB Year in Review

The American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology welcomed a new editor, Paul Schumaker, PhD, and has developed a variety of new multimedia offerings. The Lung Science Podcast aims to deliver engaging interviews and commentaries with luminaries in pulmonary and critical care basic investigation, while the Red in Motion video series will offer visually engaging summaries of noteworthy pieces of research found in the journal. In 2018, the Red Journal plans to launch its own early career group as well as a new feature: Beyond the Red, a collection of articles currently being read by research fellows. Expect more episodes of The Lung Science Podcast, and Red in Motion as well!

AnnalsATS Year in Review

The Annals of the American Thoracic Society also welcomed a new editor, David Lederer, MD, who updated the scope of the journal. He also oversaw the development of three new features: Public Health Forum, Innovations and Provocations, and Quality Improvement. AnnalsATS relaunched the Doctor to Doctor podcast series, which features conversations with authors of notable articles in the journal. Come next year, AnnalsATS plans to release its own video series and join the ATS’s other two journals on the Web of Science. Last but not least, expect an impact factor for AnnalsATS in June 2018!
