Update or Add Assembly & Section Memberships
For those who are not already involved, the ATS invites all of its members to participate in the activities of the Society’s 13 assemblies and three sections.
“Assemblies are composed of ATS members and affiliates with like interests within the broader fields of respiratory, critical care and sleep medicine,” explained Jennifer Ian, MBA, director of ATS member services and chapter relations. “The purpose of an assembly is to improve the collection, interpretation, and dissemination of information, improve communication among the members and participate in the planning of the International Conference. Assemblies are also responsible for creating and updating ATS statements. Sections, on the other hand, are subdivisions of a particular assembly that focus on a specific area of interest.”
ATS members may choose to join one primary assembly and up to two secondary assemblies, and as many sections as they wish. To change your assembly and/or section memberships, or to join one or more if you haven’t already, first visit www.thoracic.org/assemblies/index.php to see a list of assemblies and sections. Then send an e-mail to the ATS Concierge Unit at membership@thoracic.org that includes 1) your full name; 2) member ID number or your city, state and country; and 3) the name(s) of one primary assembly and up to two secondary assemblies and/or the sections that you wish to join.
