ATS 2012 Garners Worldwide Press
Press representatives from around the world covered research presented at this year’s International Conference in San Francisco. One study in particular, “Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Cancer Mortality: Results from the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort Study,” which was published online in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine to coincide with its presentation at the conference, was featured in national newscasts, the New York Times, and scores of other print and digital media outlets. (See Nos. 1–5 in “Press Clippings.”)
Research from the New England Journal of Medicine/Journal of the American Medical Association sessions, which were offered for the first time this year, also gained interest. “Nighttime Intensivist Staffing and Mortality in Critically Ill Patients” and “Benefits and Harms of CT Screening for Lung Cancer,” were published online in these two prominent journals to coincide with their presentation at the IC. (See Nos. 6–7 in “Press Clippings.”)
Additional attention grabbers included “Respiratory Health Outcomes and Home Conditions of Lower Manhattan Residents Enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Registry” and “Sexual Dysfunction, Depression and Well-Being Among Patients with COPD or Heart Failure.” (See See Nos. 8–9 in “Press Clippings.”)
