ATS Applauds Recommendation for TB Screening in High Risk Groups

Yesterday, the ATS welcomed the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s statement recommending screening for tuberculosis infection in high-risk populations. This new recommendation will facilitate latent TB infection (LTBI) screening for at-risk adults as a free preventive service covered by most private health insurance plans, Medicaid, and Medicare. The recommendation will prevent active TB cases in the U.S. by ensuring that more people in the U.S. with TB infection will be identified, diagnosed, and treated.

New Leaders, New Vision for AJRCMB

This month, a new editorial team will take over the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology for the next five years, following the eight-year term of the outgoing Editor-in-Chief Kenneth B. Adler, PhD. Incoming Editor-in-Chief Paul T. Schumacker, PhD, will be joined by Susanne Herold, PhD, and Gregory Downey, MD, who both previously served as associate editors with Dr. Adler and will now serve as deputy editors. The AJRCMB will now seek to:

  • Broaden the perceived scope of its scientific research.
  • Encourage authors to submit work dealing with the respiratory system — broadly defined.
  • Publish outstanding cellular and molecular science originating from various ATS Assemblies and Sections, including Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology; Allergy, Immunology & Inflammation; Critical Care; Respiratory Structure and Function; Pulmonary Circulation; Sleep and Respiratory Neurobiology; Thoracic Oncology; and the Section on Genetics and Genomics
