ATS Joins Letter to Congress Supporting SGR Reform

February 2014

The ATS joined several other internal medicine specialty and subspecialty groups in a letter to Congress urging swift action to pass bipartisan legislation to repeal and reform the Medicare sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula. The letter points out that Congress has until April 1, 2014 to enact legislation to avoid SGR driven cuts in 2014 payments. To date, Congress has spent over $154 billion to enact temporary measures to delay SGR cuts, but has not taken definitive action to permanently solve the SGR problem.
