Senate Passes Military Construction/VA Appropriations Bill Passes – Includes VA Research Bump

November 2015

Last week, the U.S. Senate passed the Military Construction/VA Appropriations bill. It was the first time in four years that the Senate considered and passed an individual appropriation bill. The Senate also adopted an amendment offered by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) to increase funding for the VA Medical Research and Prosthetics Program to $630.7 million—a 7 percent increase.  The bill passed earlier by the House of Representatives included $619 million for VA research.  The ATS will continue to advocate for increased funding for the VA research program.
