More Medicare Beneficiaries Lose Access to Liquid Oxygen

Access to liquid oxygen appears to be an acute problem for Medicare beneficiaries.  While national data is not yet available, the ATS Washington Office continues to hear from lung-disease patients and physicians that oxygen companies are no longer providing liquid oxygen to patients – effectively forcing patients to switch to different oxygen systems.  ATS continues to advocate with CMS and Congress to provide relief for patients who use liquid oxygen.  If you have experienced problems in getting liquid oxygen for your patients, please share a brief description of the challenges faced by you and your patients to gewart@thoracic.org.  These vignettes will be used to help educate CMS and Congress on the need to take action to improve access to liquid oxygen for the appropriate patient population.
