ATS Participates in EPA Public Hearing on Diesel Truck and Heavy Duty Emissions Rule

This week, ATS staff presented comments on behalf of the ATS at an EPA hearing to collect public feedback on the agency’s proposed rules to reduce tailpipe emissions from diesel trucks and heavy-duty vehicles starting model year 2027. According to the EPA, the proposed rule could lead to a 60 percent NOx emissions reduction by 2045.

The ATS comments noted that diesel trucks are a significant source of roadway air pollution emissions and that many disadvantaged communities are disproportionately exposed to air pollution from roadways. The ATS encouraged EPA to move forward with finalizing the agency’s efforts to reduce tailpipe emissions from trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
