Meet the 2021 Candidates for ATS Secretary-Treasurer!

Jess Mandel, MD, ATSF is the Kenneth M. Moser Professor of Medicine, chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, and vice-chair for Education in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego.

Irina Petrache, MD, ATSF is professor of medicine at National Jewish Health, as well as chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, and holds an appointment as professor in the Department of Medicine and the Pharmacology Graduate Program, University of Colorado, Denver.

The successful candidate will not only serve as secretary-treasurer during the 2021-22 term, but also as president in 2024-25.

Voting will begin March 1, 2021 and continue through March 26, 2021.

 

 

2020 ATS Assembly Challenge Results

The ATS would like to thank all ATS Assemblies for their outreach efforts and generosity during the 2020 ATS Assembly Challenge. This was the closest Assembly Challenge yet!

  • Most dollars raised: Allergy Immunology & Inflammation with $66,072!
  • Highest member participation: Nursing with 18 percent!
  • Most first-time donors in December: Critical Care with nine new donors!

NHLBI PRIDE Program: Apply Today! 

The PRIDE Summer Institute Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research are now accepting applications.

Choose from among nine unique Summer Institute programs, each with year-round mentored training opportunities. Trainees will learn effective strategies for preparing, submitting, and obtaining external funding for research purposes, including extensive tips on best practices.  Research emphasis varies by program.

Eligible applicants are junior-level faculty or scientists with a background that is under-represented in the biomedical or health sciences and are United States Citizens or Permanent Residents. Research interests should be compatible with those of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in the prevention and treatment of heart, lung, blood, and sleep (HLBS) disorders.

Programs typically are all-expenses paid including travel, meals, and housing. Contact the program of interest for details. Mentees can apply to more than one program but may attend only one.

Graduates of the ATS MECOR Program who are employed at a research/academic/governmental institution/agency in their home country, or who will be employed at such an institution at the time the award is granted, are eligible to apply.
