Jess Mandel, MD, ATSF, is the Kenneth M. Moser Professor of Medicine, chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, and vice-chair for Education in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego.
Irina Petrache, MD, ATSF, is professor of medicine at National Jewish Health, as well as chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, and holds an appointment as professor in the Department of Medicine and the Pharmacology Graduate Program, University of Colorado, Denver.
The successful candidate will not only serve as secretary-treasurer during the 2021-22 term, but also as president in 2024-25.

Assembly Apprenticeship Programs are designed to provide early-career assembly members with an opportunity to be directly involved in guiding the future of ATS. Under the mentorship of a committee member, apprentices will get a "behind-the-scenes" look at the operations of their assembly.
