Welcome ATS President, Lynn Schnapp, MD, ATSF!
At the 2021 ATS International Conference, Lynn Schnapp, MD, ATSF took over as the ATS president for the 2021 - 2022 term. Juan C. Celedón, MD, ATSF became immediate past-president, and the Executive Committee welcomed Irina Petrache, MD, ATSF as the new secretary-treasurer. Gregory Downey, MD, ATSF and M. Patricia Rivera, MD, ATSF became president-elect and vice president, respectively.
Dr. Schnapp was originally elected in 2018. She is the George R. and Elaine Love professor and chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is a faculty member in the division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.

NIH Announces Updates to NIH-Wide COVID-19 Strategic Plan
NIH has released an updated framework for accelerating the development of therapeutic interventions, vaccines, and diagnostics for SARS-CoV-2 that includes research to investigate and treat the long-term health consequences of COVID-19, as well as to understand and respond to new SARS-CoV-2 variants, and understand and engage disproportionately impacted populations. The new version of the NIH-Wide Strategic Plan for COVID-19 Research includes key updates to five cross-cutting strategies that are responsive to the evolving needs of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The plan also highlights progress made in the development of diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines and developing strategies on how to effectively provide these resources.

Individuals who have been an ATS member for five or more of the past 10 years are eligible to apply to become an ATS Fellow. Applications are submitted via an online application. You may view your application, make edits, or upload a new document at any time until the deadline for submittal.
The ATS Fellow designation is a mark of distinction, conferring recognition on members for their accomplishments, dedication and contributions to the Society as well as to the fields of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
The new ATS Fellows will be announced this fall and recognized at ATS 2022.
