New Podcast from APCCSD!

The Association of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Division Directors has launched a new podcast on their channel, “From the Trenches.”  The podcast is titled, “A Frank Discussion About Ending Sexual Harassment in Medicine.”

“From the Trenches” podcast archives are available on the ATS website.

 

American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Releases Update Series

This summer, the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine  released its annual Update Series, which reviews articles published last year. The articles include authors from each of the three current American Thoracic Society journals.

So far, the series has addressed research in Asthma/Airway Inflammation, CF, COPD, and Critical Care/ARDS. Coming soon: Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Lung Infections and Tuberculosis. By including authors from the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology and Annals of the American Thoracic Society, the AJRCCM Update Series highlights diverse advances across the field in each of the chosen disease areas, from a variety of perspectives.

 

ATS Welcomes Two New Corporate Members

The ATS is pleased to recognize two new member companies of the 2019 Corporate Member Program. Merck has joined the program at the Patron Level and Circassia has joined at the Supporter Level. The ATS Corporate Membership program is a vehicle for collaboration between the ATS and its industry partners, in the joined goal of improving patient care and education in the pulmonary, critical care, and sleep fields. The program serves as a means for transparent discussion between the ATS and the corporate community about issues and trends that may impact medicine, the advancement of science or patient care and drug discovery and development in the fields of pulmonary, critical care, or sleep medicine.

NIAID New Innovators Awards

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is offering New Innovator Awards in support of innovative post-doctoral investigators who propose new research with the potential to produce a major impact on broad, important problems in biomedical research.

The purpose of this program is to fund applications proposing bold new ideas from those currently in their post-doctoral training years to provide the opportunity for creative scientists with little to no preliminary data to launch their independent careers earlier.   

Applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and in any topic relevant to the mission of NIAID are welcome.

Reminder! NEW ATS Foundation Research Program Grants

The ATS Foundation Research Program has opened additional grant opportunities for the 2019 cycle!  The new grants include a nursing-specific award, as well as an award tailored to researchers in the Pacific Northwest for pulmonary research, specifically the impact of wildfires. There is also a COPD-focused opportunity from ResMed.
