New Clinical Practice Guidelines on Non-Invasive Ventilation in Chronic Stable Hypercapnic COPD
A subcommittee of the American Thoracic Society Assembly in Sleep and Respiratory Neurobiology has released new clinical practice guidelines to help advise clinicians on the optimal management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic hypercapnia. Hypercapnia is the buildup of carbon dioxide in the bloodstream. The guidelines, “Long-Term Non-Invasive Ventilation in Chronic Stable Hypercapnic Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: An Official American Thoracic Society Guideline” were published online in the American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. COPD Management in the time of COVID-19 and New Real World Data on Inhaler Choice
Join us to learn about COPD management and how to stay informed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as how real-world evidence enhances our knowledge on the prevalence of suboptimal peak inspiratory flow in COPD. The webinar will also discuss whether real-world evidence shows an association between inhaler choice and exacerbation frequency, and readmissions in the treatment of COPD.

NIH Announces “MOSAIC” Program
The NIH Maximizing Opportunities for Scientific and Academic Independent Careers (MOSAIC) program is designed to facilitate the transition of promising postdoctoral researchers from diverse backgrounds, such as individuals from groups underrepresented in the biomedical research workforce at the faculty level, into independent faculty careers at research-intensive institutions.
To learn more, read about the MOSAIC program in a recent post on the NIGMS Feedback Loop Blog, as well as see answers to FAQ, visit the MOSAIC website, or contact Wayne Wang, PhD, NHLBI training program director.
