Call for Papers: AJRCCM Critical Care-Focused Special Issue

The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM) is now considering papers for an upcoming special issue focused on adult and pediatric critical care, encompassing basic science, translational medicine, clinical application/clinical trials, and epidemiological studies.

With an impact factor of 16.49, the AJRCCM is positioned to help raise awareness of the current progress and continuing needs for research in critical care. We invite you to submit your original contributions for consideration in this special, focused issue.

Submissions should conform to the AJRCCM’s formatting requirements, and should mention the special, critical care-focused issue at the top of the cover letter. Authors with questions should contact Marc Bendian at mbendian@thoracic.org.

Time is Running Out to Submit Abstracts for ATS 2020!

The ATS is accepting submissions of scientific and case report abstracts on all aspects of respiratory disease, critical care, and sleep medicine. Abstracts can report on basic, translational, and clinical science research; epidemiologic, social, biobehavioral, and psychosocial investigations; or educational and quality improvement projects.

  • Scientific Abstracts: Research on respiratory disease, critical care, and sleep medicine, including quality improvement projects.
  • Case ReportsInteresting and unique reports describing a single clinical case.

The ATS International Conference Committee will plan the abstract and case report sessions based on those that are accepted. The International Conference Committee accepts abstracts based on submission criteria and relative merit.

CDC and ATS Vaping Resources

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued a health alert about vaping, providing background information on the forms of e-cigarette products, information on the multistate outbreak of severe pulmonary disease associated with using e-cigarette products, and clinical features of patients with severe pulmonary disease. Visit the CDC website to learn more and to report cases of vaping related illness.

The ATS is also working to combat vaping and has updated resources on the ATS website for both clinicians and patients.
Later this month, ATS vaping experts will participate in a Twitter chat to take questions and facilitate a discussion about the crisis.

There’s Still Time to Submit Your 2020 Innovations in Fellowship Education Program Abstracts!

The 2020 Innovations in Fellowship Education Program is still accepting abstracts for all adult and pediatric fellowship training programs showcasing innovative education work done within their pulmonary, critical care, sleep, or allergy training programs for consideration for the 2020 ATS Innovations in Fellowship Education program.

All pulmonary, allergy, critical care, and sleep fellowship training programs are eligible. Abstracts may be submitted by training program directors, associate training program directors, fellow trainees, or medical educators. Abstracts will be evaluated for their innovation, transferability, sustainability, and outcomes, with an emphasis on innovation.
