Who Will Win the ATS Assembly Challenge? Not Who You Think…

This year’s ATS Assembly Challenge has a new urgency.  The pandemic has profoundly disrupted respiratory research; unable to move forward, many scientists are leaving the field.

We can’t let our profession’s research capability stagnate.  Too many people are counting on us -- not just the next generation of researchers, but the one billion people who suffer from chronic respiratory conditions worldwide.

That is the real Assembly Challenge.

More than ever, the solution lies in grassroots giving by ATS members.  This year, let  your gift combine with so many others.  Together let’s help young researchers hone their talents, achieve early results, earn greater funding and launch lifelong careers.

Yes, the Assembly Challenge continues as a giving competition; ATS will recognize the winning Assemblies.  But the real winners will be young researchers…and the millions of patients who will breathe easier because of their work.

You’ve joined the organization.  Now join the movement.

Patient Voices 10

ATS Patient Voices is published by the American Thoracic Society Public Advisory Roundtable (ATS PAR). Since 2001, ATS PAR has been a core component of the Society and a mutually beneficial partnership wherein organizations that represent persons affected by respiratory diseases, illnesses requiring critical care, and sleep-related disorders collaborate with the ATS to advance their shared educational, research, patient care, and advocacy goals.

This year, the stories look at the role of caregivers and the caregiving ecosystem in the journey of patients. The stories illustrate a variety of different relationships, illustrating how critical caregiving is in its many forms.
