ATS Members are Encouraged to Join Physician Sign On Letter in Support of New Gasoline Standard

January 2014

The American Thoracic Society is collaborating with our American Lung Association colleagues to show broad support within the physician and health professional community for strict vehicle tail pipe emission standards by circulating a public sign on letter. All ATS members are urged to consider adding their support to this public letter calling on the President to move forward with standards reducing the allowable emissions from vehicle tail pipes.

The EPA has proposed a suite of rules to reduce vehicle tail pipe emissions. The most important of these rules is to reduce the allowable level of sulfur in gasoline which will in turn reduce emissions from all gas burning engines. The American Thoracic Society strongly supports the EPA proposed vehicle tail pipe rules.

The Administration has not yet finalized these rules. The letter calls on the Administration to move quickly and finalize the EPA tail pipe emissions rule. ATS members interested in adding their support to the letter can view the letter and sign on by clicking here.
