ATS Signs Thank You Letter to CVS for Ending Tobacco Sales

February 2014

This week, the American Thoracic Society joined several other medical and public health organizations in an open letter to CVS Caremark, applauding the company's decision to end sales of tobacco products by October 1, 2014. The letter notes, "no corporation truly devoted to saving lives – like the nation's pharmacies are – can continue to simultaneously reap billions in profits from products that kill nearly half of the people who use them. Neither can any corporation committed to the well-being of our nation's children."

The ATS encourages other pharmacies to consider joining CVS Caremark in this important step to protect our nation's health from tobacco.
