Next week, the Environmental Protection Agency is expected to release proposed rules to regulate carbon pollution emissions from existing power plants. While details of the proposed rule are still under wraps, the rule is expected to result in as much as a 20% reduction in carbon pollution emissions from power plants by 2020.
Earlier this month, the ATS met with staff at the White House Office of Management and Budget to urge the Administration to move forward with strong rules to address carbon pollution emissions. During the meeting, ATS noted the strong connections between climate change and threats to public health including heat stress, longer and more intense pollen seasons, increased ozone from higher average temperatures and storm related illness and injury.
