This week, the ATS joined a letter circulated by the American Medical Association that called upon CMS to provide more guidance and funding for the development of physician quality measures. The recently enacted legislation to repeal the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate Formula included a number of changes to the Medicare program, including expanding and accelerating the use of physician quality measure in the Medicare fee for service program. The legislation provided funding for the development of quality measures by medical professional societies.
The letter calls on CMS to provide funding to aide medical professional societies in developing quality measures, as well as CMS providing assistance to small and rural practices to meet the demands of quality reporting.
