ATS Urges EPA to Regulate Methane Emissions from Oil and Gas Extraction
December 2015
Last week, the ATS joined a letter with other public health and medical organizations urging EPA to move forward with final rules to regulate methane on other emissions from oil and natural gas extraction processes. EPA has issued proposed rules to regulate methane and other emissions from new and modified oil and gas extraction sites, but has not proposed rules to addresses existing extraction projects.
The letter notes the adverse health effects of emissions from oil and gas extraction processes as well has the potent climate effects. The letter also encourages EPA to extend limits on methane and other emissions to existing oil and natural gas extraction projects.
