House Committee Passes Legislation Requiring Child-Resistant Packaging for Liquid Nicotine

This week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), passed legislation entitled the Child Nicotine Poisoning Prevention Act of 2015, H.R. 3242, sponsored by Reps. Susan Brooks (R-IN) and Elizabeth Esty (D-CT). The legislation requires that liquid nicotine containers used with e-cigarettes comply with special packaging standards under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act of 1970. The bill's next step is a full House floor vote.
