Mandatory ICD-10 Coding Starts Next Week
September 2015
Starting next week on October 1st, physician offices across the country must start diagnostic coding using the ICD-10 coding system. Claims submitted using the old ICD-9 coding system will be rejected by Medicare and other payers.
To help ATS members with the transition to the new ICD-10 coding system, the ATS has held a series of webinars providing basic information on ICD-10 coding for pulmonary, critical care and sleep physicians. Recordings of these webinars can be found on the ATS website.
ATS members with questions about correct ICD-10 coding can send questions to codingquestions@thoracic.org.
