Physician Payment Sunshine Data Open for Physician Review

April 2015

Physicians and teaching hospitals have until May 20, 2015 to review the latest batch of payment data submitted by industry to CMS in compliance with the Physician Payment Sunshine Act (now called the Open Payments system). The Open Payments system requires drug and medical device industries to report payments and other financial transfers made to physicians and teaching hospitals. Physicians can review the data submitted by industry to CMS and, if there are reporting issues, lodge disputes with CMS on any inaccurate data.

To review the data, physicians must first register with the Open Payments system.

Registration

CMS will release the latest data to the public on June 30, 2015. Any data disputes that are registered with CMS before May 20, 2015 will be flagged in the public database as disputed.
