July 2015
Last week, the Senate State Department and Foreign Operations Appropriations subcommittee, followed by the full Appropriations committee, approved the proposed FY2016 State Department and Foreign Operations spending bill. The panels voted to provide flat funding of $236 million for USAID's global TB program, consistent with the FY2015 funding level. The subcommittee rejected the Administration's proposed 19 percent funding cut for the program, which would have reduced program funding to $191 million. The House bill also includes flat funding of $236 million for USAID's global TB program. The final outcome for FY2016 global TB funding is unclear at this point due to upcoming negotiations on an overall budget agreement that replaces sequestration funding cuts.
