US Supreme Court Hears King v. Burwell Case
March 2015
This week the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in King v Burwell – a case that challenges the Internal Revenue Services' (IRS) decision to grant federal subsidies to purchase health insurance to residents of states that did not set up state run health insurance exchanges. If the court rules in favor of the plaintiffs, potentially 7.5 million residents in 34 states could lose federal subsidies to purchase health insurance.
The ATS filed an amicus brief in support of IRS's interpretation of the Affordable Care Act.
