ATS Joins Letter Opposing Riders to Block EPA Authority

November 2016

This week, the ATS joined several other physician and public health organizations on a letter to Congress opposing legislative riders to slow, weaken or block the EPA's authority to regulate air pollution. The letter is in response to several provisions in the House version of fiscal year 2017 Interior, Environment Appropriations bill (which funds the EPA) that would weaken the EPA's authority.  Specifically, the offending provisions would stop the EPA's regulation to limit carbon pollution from power plants, block methane limits on oil and gas facilities, delay implementation of EPA's ozone standard and weaken emissions standards for vehicles.

The letter urges Congress to pass a "clean" year-end spending bill that does not include policy riders to weaken the EPA's authority.
