ATS Comments on 2018 Proposed Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Rule

The ATS submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the 2018 proposed rule on Medicare physician payment. The proposed rule covers a broad range of regulatory, reporting and reimbursement issues that impact pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. The comments advocate for ATS members on a wide range of issues including:
- Opposing CMS unilateral decision to reduce physician work values for bronchoscopic procedures and pulmonary function tests
- Recommending appropriate costs for clinical labor inputs and practice expense input for pulmonary tests
- Raising concerns with CMS's CPAP Certification of Use requirement
- Supporting Lung Cancer Shared Decision Making services for telemedicine use
