ATS Joins Letter Opposing Repeal of the Methane and Waste Prevention Rule

February 2017

The ATS joined other public health organizations in a letter urging Congress to vote "no" on a repeal of the Bureau of Land Management final rule to reduce fugitive methane gas emissions from natural gas extraction and natural gas pipelines.  Noting that methane gas contributes to poor air quality and is a potent greenhouse gas, the letter urges members of the House of Representatives to reject Congressional efforts to repeal the rule by the Congressional Review Act.

The Congressional Review Act is legislative. It allows Congress to repeal regulations issued by federal agencies within 60 days after the rule has been issued.
