ATS Signals Support of Legislation to Address Climate Change

September 2017

The ATS joined several other organizations in a letter to support legislation introduced this week by Sen. Markey (D-MA) and Rep. Cartwright (D-PA) to address climate change policy in the U.S.  The legislation would take several steps to address climate change including:  directing the Department of Health and Human Services to develop a national strategic plan to address the public health impacts of climate change, improving forecasting of climate change impacts, improving environmental and disease tracking, and providing funds to educate providers and the public on the health effects of climate change.

While the legislation has little chance of being enacted by either chamber in this Congress, it does serve as a place-marker for continuing to discuss the importance of addressing climate change with both Congress and the Administration.
