This week, the House Appropriations publicly released draft text of the Interior/EPA Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2018. This bill provides funding for EPA, the Department of the Interior and other related agencies.

As expected, the bill makes a number of significant cuts in EPA's budget, though not as deep as those proposed by the Trump Administration. Funding cuts include:

• $629.24 million for EPA Science and Technology, a decrease of $77.26 million from FY 2017.
• $2.4 billion for EPA Environmental Programs and Management, a decrease of $198 million from FY 2017.
• $1.12 billion for the Hazardous Substance Superfund, level funded from FY 2017.
• $3.3 billion for State and Tribal Assistance Grants, a decrease of $230 million from FY 2017.
• $40 million for Targeted Airshed Grants, an increase of $10 million over FY 2017.
• $75.4 million for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a decrease of $1.95 million from FY 2017

The bill includes a legislative rider that would delay EPA's implementation of the National Ambient Air Quality Standard ozone standard by 10 years.
