Senate Panel Approves Global TB Funding Increase
September 2017
In another win for tuberculosis funding, the Senate State Dept-Foreign Operations subcommittee, followed by the full Appropriations Committee approved their FY2018 spending bill for international affairs and global health programs. The bill includes a $20 million funding increase for USAID's global TB program, for a proposed FY2018 funding level of $261 million. The House bill proposes flat funding at the FY2017 level of $241 million for the program. There is a good chance that the Senate's $20 million funding increase for global TB will make it into final FY2018 spending.
