ATS Opposes Roll Back of Vehicle GHG Emissions Rule at EPA Hearing

This week, ATS member Susan Ewart, PhD, DVM testified at an EPA field hearing in Dearborn Michigan to oppose the Administration’s proposal to roll back greenhouse gas vehicle tailpipe emission standards for model 2021-2026 cars and light trucks.  The rule also proposes to rescind California’s authority to set greenhouse gas emissions tailpipe standards that are more stringent than federal standards.

In her testimony, Dr. Ewart noted how climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of weather events including, droughts, heat waves, storms, floods and wildfires.  In her testimony, Dr. Ewart noted, “(n)ot only is the Administration failing to take action on climate change, they are seeking to block those who are taking action.  For years, California has been a state leader in developing policy to address environmental threats.  Now the Administration is trying to take that authority away from California.”
