ATS Leaders Meet with NIH Institutes
This week, American Thoracic Society leadership met with directors of key NIH institutes and agencies relevant to the ATS research agenda. These included the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the National Institute of Nursing Research, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the Food and Drug Administration Center for Tobacco Products.
In each of the meetings, ATS leaders discussed research needs in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine, and strategized with institute directors and staff about areas for collaboration.
“These meetings with NIH institutes help advance the ATS’s mission over time,” said ATS President James Beck, MD, ATSF. “They provide the ATS and our members the opportunity to promote ATS priorities in pulmonary, critical care and sleep research directly with institute leadership.”
