Last week, the Food and Drug Administration sent a proposal to address regulation of e-cigarettes and vape products to the White House for final review. While details of the proposal are not public, several major newspapers have reported that the Administration is strongly considering removing most flavored e-cigarette and vape products from the market but allowing mint and menthol flavored products to remain available. Mint and menthol flavored products are the second most popular flavor among high school e-cigarette users with 63.9 percent reporting having used mint/menthol flavor products, compared to the most popular flavor, fruit, at 65.9 percent.
The ATS opposes the exemption of mint and menthol products and strongly urges the Administration to remove all flavored e-cigarette and vape products from the market.
