ATS Files Amicus Brief in Support of California’s Vehicle Tailpipe Emissions Authority

This week, the ATS submitted an amicus brief in the court challenge to the state of California’s authority to establish vehicle tailpipe emissions standard for greenhouse gas (Union of Concerned Scientists v National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). In this case, the Trump Administration is seeking to revoke the state of California’s waiver authority to establish vehicle tailpipe emissions standards for greenhouse gas emissions that are more stringent than the national standard. In the brief, the ATS summarizes the research documenting the current and projected impacts climate change will have on California. Joining the ATS in the brief was the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the American Public Health Association, and the American Lung Association.
