ATS Health Policy Committee Commentary on ICE Proposal Affecting International Medical Trainees
The ATS Health Policy Committee recently authored a commentary discussing the potential effects of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) proposal on international students, including international medical graduates (IMGs). The proposal would change the process to extend the period of authorized stay in the U.S. for certain categories of non-immigrant students, including J-1 physician visa holders, requiring them to apply for a status extension annually.
