ATS Joins Letter to EPA Calling for More Protective PM Standard
This week, the ATS joined other medical and public health organizations in a letter to EPA calling for a more protective National Ambient Air Quality Standard for particulate matter pollution. The letter outlined the strong evidence-base documenting the adverse effect of PM on human health, including at levels permissible under current rules. The letter urged EPA to adopt a more protective annual standard of 8 μg/m3 and daily standard of 25 μg/m3.
EPA recently announced its decision to retain the current standard of 12 μg/m3 for the annual and 35 μg/m3 for the daily standard.
