Budget and Appropriations

The existing continuing resolution (CR) providing stop gap funding for federal agencies expires Dec. 11, 2020. Although congressional leaders are calling for the details on the 12 annual appropriations bills to be finalized this weekend, there is an acknowledgment a little more time may be needed to negotiate the overall $1.4 trillion discretionary spending package. If the details cannot be finalized by early next week, there could be another, short-term, stop gap CR pushing the deadline to around Dec. 18, 2020. Appropriators hope to finish off the spending bills this month and avoid another CR into next calendar year and the new Congress.
