Congress Working to Finalize 2021 Spending and COVID-19 Stimulus

This week, the House of Representatives, followed by the Senate, passed a short-term spending measure to give Congress an additional week to work out an agreement finalizing Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 government spending. The President is expected to sign the measure into law.  The short-term measure will give Congress a new deadline of Dec. 18, 2020 to finalize FY2021 government spending. We are cautiously optimistic that NIH is slated for a 2021 funding increase of at least $2 billion, as included in the health spending bill released by the Senate Appropriations Committee.
