ATS Joins Letter to EPA Urging Stronger Methane Emissions Regulation
This month, the ATS joined over 40 medical and public health organizations in a letter to the EPA urging regulations to reduce fugitive methane gas emissions from the extraction, processing, transport and distribution of methane gas. The letter notes that methane gas emissions are a significant driver of climate change, and that current technology exists that can significantly reduce fugitive methane gas emissions from oil and natural gas extraction, processing, and distribution. The letter calls on the EPA to establish more protective standards for both new and existing oil and natural gas extraction, processing, and transport operations.
