ATS Joins Letter Urging FDA to Ban Menthol and Other Flavored Tobacco Products
The ATS joined over 70 other medical and public health organizations in a letter to FDA leadership urging the agency to finally take concrete action to ban menthol and other flavored tobacco products. The letter summarizes the extensive evidence-base documenting the detrimental role menthol and other flavors play in tobacco initiation and addiction and noted the many times that FDA promised to take action on flavored tobacco products but has yet failed to do. The letter urges FDA to immediate initiate a regulatory process to ban menthol in cigarettes and cigars and initiate a separate tobacco product standard to ban other flavored tobacco products.
