ATS Supports Increased Funding for CDC Tobacco Control Programs
The ATS joined over 40 public health and medical organizations in a letter to Congressional appropriators seeking $310 million (+$80 million) in funding for fiscal year 2022 for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Office on Smoking and Health. The Office on Smoking and Health plays a lead role in the CDC’s efforts to reduce tobacco use. The agency provides grants to states and territories to support tobacco prevention and cessation programs. It runs the national Tips From Former Smokers Campaign, supports tobacco control research and develops best practices for tobacco prevention and cessation programs.
