ATS Urges Court to Support CMS COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement for Health Care Workers

This week, the ATS joined a coalition of 12 national medical professional organizations in submitting an amicus brief in the case Missouri v Biden, challenging the CMS requirement that all health care workers receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The case is being heard in the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. As noted in the opening remarks of the brief, “(t)he United States is in an unprecedented and ongoing public health crisis as it battles COVID-19—a battle that can be won only with widespread vaccination. While vaccination of all workers is critical to protecting public health and safety, it is even more urgent that health care workers be vaccinated: the potential for transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in health care settings puts not only frontline workers, but also patients, at risk.” The amicus brief continues to summarize the safety and effectiveness of the available COVID-19 vaccines and describe the known adverse health effects of the continuing COVID-19 outbreak.
