CMS Issues Proposed Expansion of Lung Cancer Screening Eligibility
This week the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released a proposed revision to the eligibility for the lung cancer screening, expanding the age band to include patients as old as 77 years and reducing pack years to 20. The proposed new policy adopts many of the recommendations made in the recent US Preventative Services Taskforce revisions to lung cancer screening criteria. The proposed policy is open for public comment for 30 days. The ATS will submit comments in support of the expanded eligibility criteria.
