CMS Issues Proposed Expansion of Lung Cancer Screening Eligibility

In November, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released a proposed revision to Medicare lung cancer screening eligibility criteria, expanding the screen age band to 50-77 years old and lowering the pack year to 20 years. The proposed new policy adopts many of the recommendations made in the recent US Preventative Services Taskforce revision to the lung cancer screening update.   The proposed policy revision is open for 30 days. The ATS will submit comments in support of the expanded lung cancer screening eligibility criteria.
