COVID-19 Relief Legislation

The COVID-19 response law provides $900 million in economic and public health-related funding, including:

  • $1.25 billion in additional funding for NIH COVID-19 related research, including long-haul complications
  • $8.75 billion in additional funding for CDC, including:
  • $4.5 billion for State, Local, Territorial, and Tribal Health Departments.
  • $300 million for vaccine distribution to underserved and at-risk communities
  • $25.4 billion in additional funding for the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund, including:
  • $22.4 billion for testing, contact tracing, and related activities, which includes
    • $2.5 billion for COVID-19 testing in medically underserved communities
    • $3 billion to reimburse hospitals and healthcare providers for lost revenue
  • $3.25 billion in additional funding for the Strategic National Stockpile.
  • $19.7 billion in additional funding for the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) for development of COVID-19 diagnostics, drugs and vaccines.
