EPA Announces Members of Key Advisory Committees

In August, the EPA announced the members of key scientific advisory committees that provide guidance to the agency on policy and regulatory issues. EPA’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee – which composed of air pollution scientific experts and is charged with giving the agency non-binding scientific advice on air regulatory air pollution standards, includes two ATS members, Michelle Bell, PhD, and Mark Frampton, MD.


The EPA has also convened a special scientific advisory panel tasked with reviewing data on particulate matter pollution and providing the agency non-binding advice on the appropriate National Ambient Air Quality Standard for particulate matter. The particulate matter panel includes several ATS members including:

  • John Balmes, MD
  • Michelle Bell, PhD
  • Jane Clougherty, MSc, ScD
  • Mark Frampton, MD
  • Terry Gordon, PhD
  • Stephanie Lovinsky-Desir, MD
  • Jennifer Peel, PhD
  • David Rich, ScD
  • Neeta Thakur, MD


EPA also announced the members of the Scientific Advisory Board, a panel of expertise from a broad range of scientific fields charged with providing the agency advice on scientific policy, and which includes ATS members Enid Neptune, MD, and Peter Throne, PhD.
