EPA Moves to Restore California Clean Air Waiver Authority |
Last week, EPA initiated action to overturn the Trump Administration’s decision to revoke California’s waiver authority to set vehicle tailpipe emissions standards for greenhouse gases at a level more protective than the federal standard. In announcing the action, EPA Administrator Michael Regan said, “The 2019 decision to revoke the state’s waiver to enforce its greenhouse gas pollution standards for cars and trucks was legally dubious and an attack on the public’s health and wellbeing,”
EPA will be holding virtual hearings on June 2nd to receive public comment on reconsideration of the Trump revocation of the California waiver.
The ATS opposed the initial decision to revoke California’s waiver authority and submitted an amicus brief in support of legal challenges to the Trump EPA decision. |
