OMB Meeting on Methane

In September, the ATS joined with representatives from other medical and public health groups in a meeting with White House Office of Management and Budget staff. The meeting was a show of support for Biden Administration efforts to create regulations to reduce methane emissions from oil and natural gas extraction, refinement and distribution companies. The EPA is in the process of developing two new regulations, one to set standards for new oil and natural gas extraction projects and a second new regulation to reduce methane emissions from existing extraction projects. During the meeting, the ATS stressed that reducing methane emissions is a critical element of addressing climate change.
